artist bioAfter finding art as a vehicle of personal expression, Montgomery Rausch started painting at 14 and has continued ever since. She has exhibited works in acrylic, oil, graphite, batik, pastel, mixed media, pen and pencil, and silk screen. Her work hangs in several private collections, and has been featured in numerous showings, galleries and art exhibits. Having lived on both the east and west coast, and traveled abroad, Montgomery Rausch works often feature beach and cityscapes, as well as landscapes on large canvases.
Catherine Montgomery Rausch was born in South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and Art Education from Mercer University. She studied further, taking graduate courses in painting and drawing from The University of Georgia, The University of South Carolina and The University of California at San Diego. She received her Masters in Art Education from Georgia Southern University. She taught art for 28 years in public schools, for grades K4 through twelfth until she retired in 2020. Since then, she has been busy with painting, especially large abstracts and colorful beachy scenes. In 2022, she began a new career as a freelance artist, interior designer and stager. Montgomery Rausch is a proud mother of 3 children, and 9 grandchildren. |
